[GIST] What is the big deal with attending white-garment churches?

Comedian Helen Paul is currently facing a lot of heat from Internet trolls for attending this church.

A picture of Helen Paul in all white at a Cherubim and Seraphim church has critics talking.

The comedian was forced to react after Internet trolls hurled abusive words and nasty comments at her.
Addressing the issue, she wrote, “The gospel is not about the CHURCH you attend or the doctrine you follow, it’s all about; THE GOOD NEWS, ETERNITY, LOVE, FAITH, SACRIFICE, SERVICE TO HUMANITY. There is no BOOK OF LIFE OF CHURCHES, it’s simply a BOOK OF LIFE and whoever his/her name is there would be granted ACCESS.
“Can we all just serve ONE GOD, have one SPIRIT, and live in UNITY. Some people say they are for PAUL, some say they are for APOLLO. But Paul planteth, Apollo watereth and GOD giveth INCREASE.”

This is not the first time trolls have attacked a celebrity for attending this particular church.
In 2016, Toolz was not spared from the nasty comments when photos of her and her husband, Tunde Demuren popped upon Instablog 9ja- the popular Instagram page.
Unlike Helen, the BEAT FM OAP didn't put up the pictures on her Instagram page. This made people wonder if she was not proud of her husband’s family church.

While others insinuated that Toolz would even be caught in a white garment church.
This proves just how much bias Nigerians have against this church. Why are people so concerned with this church in particular?
Why do people take it upon themselves to attack anyone, especially celebrities, for going to church?

Some have argued that Nigerians have the mindset that this church is for poor people. If this is really the case, then these people are mistaken.
The truth is that a lot of people, rich ones and celebrities included, go to white garment churches every Sunday.
Besides, a church should be the one place where discrimination doesn't exist. People should be able to worship anywhere without worrying about what others will say.
The society has to grow up to a point where we are just glad that people are going to church not attacking them for what denomination they choose.

Kudos to Helen Paul for defending her right to worship wherever she wants.
