Piers Morgan has taken to social media to blast Arsene Wenger’s decision not to start Alexandre Lacazette against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as the Gunners lost 3-1 at The Etihad.

Lacazette came off the bench in the second half to score with a cool finish but it wasn’t enough for Wenger’s men as they ended up losing to Pep Guardiola’s men.
Kevin De Bruyne gave Manchester City the lead in the first half with a cool finish at The Etihad, and Sergio Aguero made it 2-0 after half-time when he converted his penalty.
Summer signing Lacazette netted to pull a goal back for the Gunners shortly after, but Gabriel Jesus netted a third for the home side when he was found by David Silva in the box.
Arsenal shareholder Morgan has been one of Wenger’s fiercest critics in recent years and has repeatedly called for the Frenchman to leave the north London club.
And the former Daily Mirror editor was clearly frustrated by Wenger’s decision not to hand Lacazette a start at The Etihad after his impressive finish.
After Lacazette scored, Morganwrote on Twitter: “2-1. Excellent goal by Lacazette. Why didn’t he start??? #MCFCvAFC.”
In a series of other tweets, he added: “Our midfield’s being completely run over. From Vieira/Petit to Ramsey/Xhaka – sums up Wenger’s managerial decline.”
And he wrote: “REMINDER: I was told on good authority that Guardiola wanted to come to Arsenal with Thierry Henry as his No2 – but Wenger refused to go.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch home clash against Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates on Saturday 18 November.
The defeat left Wenger’s men sixth in the Premier League table after 11 games of the new season.
